Heather Knowles, MS, GSP

Founder | Principal Consultant, Black Banner Safety

Heather Knowles founded Black Banner Safety with a mission: to deliver grounded, tactical solutions for the real world.

With nearly two decades of experience across the U.S. Navy, aerospace, manufacturing, and public safety, her work has taken her from aircraft maintenance to manufacturing solid rocket propellant. She's led safety programs in circuit board fabrication, power and hand tool manufacturing, and law enforcement/corrections - all under pressure, all with lives on the line.

She doesn’t just study risk. She’s lived it.

Her approach? Practical. Adaptive. Built for real operations.
Heather believes that safety is never one-size-fits-all and real solutions come from the grey areas between rigid compliance and real-world performance.

She’s not here to play gotcha or push generic programs. She’s here to solve problems, reduce risk, and empower teams to work safer, smarter, and more confidently.

With a Master’s in Occupational Safety & Health and a GSP designation (CSP in progress), Heather blends technical expertise, strategic insight, and lived experience into every solution.

Black Banner Safety was built for the doers - the ones who get it done.
Heather’s role? Making sure they get it done - safely, sustainably, and without losing their edge.
